Helping Ordinary Kids Become Extraordinary Adults

Papa John's International is a proud supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. Serving more than 30,000 youth and adults in 25 counties in north-central Kentucky and southern Indiana, the Lincoln Heritage Council, Boy Scouts of America, works to foster the character development, worldwide citizenship and the moral, mental and physical fitness of young people. Our involvement further supports our mission to provide a "slice of education" to our young people.

Chuck Schnatter, Senior VP and Chief Development Officer, has provided leadership as an executive Board Member since 2002. Chuck is the recipient of the "Civil Beaver" award, the highest achievement for a chief volunteer.

Last year, Chuck chaired the Annual Boy Scouts Popcorn Sale which raised over $800,000 for the scouting program, which was a record year. In addition, Chuck chaired the Scout Auction, an annual event, which in 2007 a record for funds raised was set. This annual event helps better serve youth in the Scout outreach program. Just recently, Chuck chaired the Good Scout Award dinner. Funds from these events support many programs for our youth which are a direct result from the numerous endeavors that are supported by Papa John's International.

In 2008, at their Good Scout Award Dinner, the Boy Scouts honored John and Annette Schnatter for their contribution to the Boy Scouts and the Louisville community. The event generated over $255,000. These funds will have a positive impact to the KIDS Place, the Louisville Zoo, 21st Century Parks and the Boy Scouts of America.

According to Barry Oxley, Scout Executive, "The funds received from the Good Scout Award Dinner will assist with the services provided to all Scouts in the Lincoln Heritage Council." Training for adult leaders, Scouting for Food, Urban Scouting, Good Turn Project, camping programs and the annual Scout-O-Rama on the infield of Churchill Downs are but a few of the activities and services provided to the local youth. Scouting continues to be a values-driven program that makes a difference in the lives of young people.
