May 2007 - For the eighth consecutive year (1999-2007), Papa John's is rated #1 in customer satisfaction among all national pizza chains in the American Consumer Satisfaction Index released by the National Quality Research Center at the University of Michigan Business School.

April 2007 - Papa John's offers Queen Elizabeth II "free pizza for life"

February 2007 - First restaurant opened in Egypt in Cairo.

June 2006 - Korea opens its 50th store.

December 2006 - PizzaMarketPlace.com names Papa John's 2006 Pizza Chain of the Year.

December 2006 - For the third consecutive year consumers name Papa John's number one among national pizza delivery and take-out chains in the Restaurants and Institutions Consumer's Choice in Chains Survey. Papa John's earned the best over all score and outdistanced the next closest national take-out and delivery chain by margin of almost six points.

October 2006 - Papa John's now offers customers online ordering in Spanish.

June 2005 - 400th international restaurant opens (in South Korea).

May 2005 - First restaurant opened in Dublin, Ireland.

March 2005 - First restaurant opened in Portugal.

January 2005 - Papa John's voted "Best Pizza" in more than 55 U.S. markets over the last several years, including recent wins in Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Dallas, Indianapolis, Orlando, Knoxville and Phoenix.

December 2004 - First restaurant opened in Quito, Ecuador.

September 2004 - For the second time in three years, Papa John's is ranked number one among national pizza delivery and take-out chains in the prestigious Restaurants and Institutions' Consumers' Choice in Chains Survey. Papa John's surpassesd Pizza Hut to receive the highest overall rating among national pizza delivery and take-out chains, as well as the highest rating in the individual attributes of food quality, value, good reputation, service, cleanliness and convenience.

August 2004 - Papa John's and the Dallas Cowboys announce a joint venture.

February/March 2001 - SUCCESS Magazine ranks Papa John's #12 in the Franchisee Satisfaction Rating. Of the 200 franchisors evaluated, Papa John's ranked well above the regional pizza chains included in the "Franchise Gold 200" (the next highest pizza franchisor ranked #53).

2000 Milestones

February 2000 - Papa John's is rated #1 in customer satisfaction among all national quick service restaurants in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) conducted by the National Quality Research Center at the University of Michigan Business School.

February 2000 - Papa John's finishes first in the pizza category in the 20th Annual Restaurants and Institutions' Choice in Chains Survey (1997 - 2000). Papa John's captured both the top overall customer satisfaction and product quality ratings among national pizza chains for the fourth consecutive year in this prestigious survey, finishing ahead of its much larger rival Pizza Hut (who had won the award for 10 out of 12 years before Papa John's inclusion in the survey).

In 2000, Papa John's opened restaurants in United Kingdom, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Iceland, and Honduras.

August 2000 - First restaurant opened in Anchorage, Alaska.

1999 Milestones

June 1999 - Papa John's store 2000 opened in Denver, CO.

November 1999 - Papa John's announces the 205-unit acquisition of Perfect Pizza Holdings Limited in the United Kingdom.

March 1999 - For three years running, Papa John's has received top honors among national pizza chains in the prestigious Restaurants and Institutions' Choice in Chains Survey (1997 - 1999). In the survey of more than 2,800 consumers across the United States, Papa John's was named the Gold Winner in the pizza category.

In 1999 - Papa John's opened restaurants in Caracas, Venezuela, San Jose, Costa Rica, and Guatemala City, Guatemala.

1999 - Papa John's celebrated its 1st international million-dollar restaurant located in Caracas, Venezuela operated by franchisee Kentucky Pizza, C.A.

January 1999 - Papa John's is ranked #1 Pizza Franchise in Entrepreneur magazine's 20th Annual Franchise 500.

1998 Milestones

December 1998 - Papa John's tops $1 Billion in system wide restaurant sales.

December 1998 - First restaurant opened in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

July 1998 - Papa John's opened its first international restaurant in Mexico City, Mexico owned by franchisee Corporativo Grupo Mexicano del Pacifico (GMP)

February 1998 - For the second consecutive year, Restaurants and Institutions names Papa John's "Best Pizza Chain in America" in its Choice in Chains Survey of more than 2,800 consumers across the United States (1997 - 1998). In addition to being named best overall pizza chain in the survey results, Papa John's placed first in three of the survey's seven categories: food quality, service and convenience. Papa John's led the survey ahead of the other national pizza companies, including Pizza Hut, the largest pizza chain in the world.

January 1998 - 1500th restaurant Grand Opening in Arlington, Texax on 1/8/1998.

1997 Milestones

October 1997 - First offered online ordering for pizza delivery.

May 1997 - Papa John's airs its first national television advertising campaign. The ads feature Papa John's Founder John Schnatter and Papa John's franchisee Frank Carney, the co-founder of Pizza Hut. Carney informs the public that he's "found a better pizza" at Papa John's.

January 1997 - Papa John's ranked #1 in the pizza category in Restaurants and Institutions' Choice in Chains Survey. Papa John's captures both the top overall customer satisfaction and product quality ratings among national pizza chains for the first time.

1996 Milestones

August 1996 - Papa John's opened its 1,000th restaurant in Indianapolis, Indiana.

1995 - 1984 Milestones

June 1994 - Papa John's 500th restaurant opened in Atlanta, Georgia.

1993 - Initial public stock offering.

August 1991 - Papa John's opened its 100th restaurant in Clarksdale, TN.

January 1986 - Papa John's sold its first franchise (restaurant #9 located in Fern Creek, Kentucky) to R.L.S. Enterprises, Inc.

March 1985 - First restaurant is opened in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

March 1984 - Incorporated BAM, Inc., an Indiana corporation to operate a restaurant & tavern. John begins selling pizzas from a converted broom closet in Mick's Lounge, located in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
